A curated community for DevX leaders that want to connect, create and exchange learnings and insights about developer experience.
What It Was
The DevX Community was a curated space that brought together developer experience professionals, people working on developer tools, internal platforms, and workflows, to connect, share insights, and learn from each other. It served as a home base for practitioners who cared deeply about improving the day-to-day experience of building software.
Beyond the community itself, DevX became an umbrella brand for several initiatives: DevXPod (a podcast), DevX Conf (a virtual conference), and DevX Digest (a newsletter). Together, these channels created multiple touchpoints for the developer experience conversation to grow and reach a wider audience.
Community Goals
- •Connect DevX practitioners: create a space for developer experience professionals to find each other and build relationships
- •Exchange learnings and insights: facilitate knowledge sharing around developer tools, workflows, and best practices
- •Grow the DevX conversation: amplify awareness of developer experience as a discipline through events, content, and community initiatives
My Role
I founded and led the DevX Community, building it from the ground up as an initiative under Ona (formerly Gitpod). I was responsible for shaping the community's direction, bringing members in, hosting events, and launching the associated content initiatives that extended its reach.
- •Brought 100 developer experience professionals into the community, curating membership to ensure meaningful connections and high-quality discussions
- •Hosted virtual events to connect members and spark conversation around developer experience topics and broader DevX initiatives
- •Launched DevXPod, DevX Conf, and DevX Digest under the DevX brand, extending the community's reach through podcasting, conferences, and newsletters
- •Connected community members to broader DevX initiatives and created content that highlighted the importance of developer experience as a discipline
